About me

Hi, I'm tim - the NR2 Handyman!

I've been a DIY enthusiast since I bought my first flat 20 years ago. It was a dusty shell and I was skint, so I had no choice but to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty. With my dad's help, I put in central heating, laid wooden flooring, built and fitted the kitchen, decorated, and did innumarable other things to make it into a lovely home.

Since then, I've done all sorts of home improvements in subsequent houses: shelving, tiling, decorating, built sheds, put up pictures, garden design and planting, and fixed and repaired all sorts of issues, from unblocking sinks and drains to replacing broken decking.

I'm a real jack-of-all-trades: I can do most household jobs to a high standard, but I know my limits and won't take anything on I don't think I can complete to your (or my) satisfaction. I'm happy to recommend specialist tradespeople in Norwich who have done a good job for me.

Courses and accreditations

I have completed the City & Guilds Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery course, and in 2024 undertook two carpentry referesher courses through Norwich City Council's adult learning service, alongside a course in tiling.

What I don't do

Working at height

I generally don't do anything beyond what can be reached with a step ladder. For example, I won't decorate the exterior of first-floor window or fix guttering or rooves unless you have scaffolding up.
